There are so many ways that love touches our heart and soul. We must remember not to confuse infatuation with love. Infatuation feels like love but it does not last. After it wears off, then comes the challenges of still loving when all the annoying quirks and behaviors appear. But, there is one love that is like no other…the love you feel for your unborn child. Sight unseen, there is nothing to influence you but the movement of life inside your body, knowing soon, you will be responsible for this beautiful human being.
The Bible passage that I chose for this poem for my 2ndedition to my poetry book “Inspirations from My Family & Friends” was from Psalm 127:1 –“Unless the Lord builds a house, its builders labor over it in vain. Unless the Lord watches over a city, the watchman stays alert in vain”.
I wrote this poem to the parents of “Lily Marie”, my first grand-niece. My hope was that they would come to realize the love of a child, given to them by God, would always need His guidance as well as theirs.
Love Like No Other
You will never know….
A love so deep & overwhelming at times.
A love so pure and innocent.
A love that is unconditional.
A love that comes long before you meet.
That is…
Until your child arrives.
