I consider myself a mature (not old), intelligent (not genius), attractive (not beautiful) woman who has come to understand what it means to have a best friend.  I can count on one hand the women in my life that fall into that category, the ones who have impacted my life in a very powerful way.  One I met my freshman year in college…we see each other every few years, only live 3 hours apart.  Another I met through another friend…we see each other once a year maybe…she lives thousands of miles away.  I trust these two women immensely and tell them everything.  They are brilliant, kind, amazing and just the right amount of “crazy”.  I love them with all my heart and am so grateful to everything they have given me…not the “things”, but the confidence, the support, the direction, the unconditional love.  The poem below was written to another best friend…my “sister in Christ”…the woman who helped me find my way as a Christian.  We met through my husband…we’ve shared some wonderful experiences, watched our children grow up, traveled together, cried together.  We share the love of music, having sung together for the Lord for over 20 years.  I tell her everything…and I know she will never judge me nor chastise me not forsake me.  And, she won’t lie to me either…she will be honest because she loves me.  And, I will listen.   She is a gift from God for it was she who has helped me understand the true meaning of life.

Save me, O God, because I have come to you for refuge.  I said to Him, “You are my Lord; I have no other help but yours.”  I want the company of the godly men and women in the land; they are the true nobility.

Wonder

As we go from day to day…
Ever wonder where you’re going
As you travel ’long the way?

While I know God has it covered
And HE knows what’s best for me
I get anxious, as I ponder.
I sure wish that I could see.

Yet, I never, ever question
Why our paths have crossed this life.
For it’s you I often turn to
When I come across the strife.

You are always there to listen.
You do comfort me, for sure.
When my patience seems to dwindle,
You do help me to endure.

When the stress does take its toll.
